“Done!” Jane shouted, leaping into Will’s arms. “Done with exams for ever and ever!”

“For ever and ever…” Bran echoed. “Such a weighty phrase for mere exams,” he teased.

Will kissed Jane’s forehead as he intoned, “There will always be yet another test--”

Jane pressed a palm over his mouth. “Must you?”

I do not get to forget, he wanted to snap, but he shook his head, pretending to succumb to her giddy mood.

As they waltzed across the quadrangle, Bran lagged behind, thoughtful. He hadn’t missed the flare of pain in Will’s eyes. Someday, cariad, I will learn…
