I use the term "political correctness." I use it to denote any opinion held publicly due to social pressures, rather than any true commitment.
On the progressive side, it's dangerous because if someone's commitment to a progressive political issue is insincere, then they're likely to abandon the position when it falls out of favour or complicates their position.
But I also point out that political correctness exists on the right, big time. Like how in the US, even the most progressive were terrified to say the Iraq War was insanity until relatively recently. They'd only talk about it if they knew that everyone listening was sympathetic to an anti-war perspective.
