Although, if in future someone should bleat at me that my objection to -ist or -phobic language is just me being "politically correct" I think the most effective response is one I read recently, and wish I could attribute, but I cannot remember where I read it: "'Political correctness' is shorthand for 'I don't want to examine my privilege.'"
