that I feel Israel should not be bombing UN buildings or schools or anywhere civilians are sheltering even if they believe Hamas fighters or their weapons are inside

Hamas was actually shooting at aircraft from inside the "school." There are videos of it.

UN schools in Gaza are staffed by people who can't actually say no to terrorists (people in Gaza get killed if they tell armed Hamas fighters to go away), and most don't actually want to. They're not staffing in Gaza just cause it's a nice place.

Hamas deliberately fires from civilian areas. What do you think Israel should do about this?

The UN staffers in that school deny there were any terrorists inside. They say only that there was fighting nearby.

If there are going to be there in the first place (and as you know, I've read press saying this whole exercise is not the most effective way to stop Hamas firing rockets into southern Israel), then I think they should enter the civilian areas and only fire at Hamas fighters. I know more IDF soldiers will be killed that way, but in my opinion wars should be fought by fighters. If Israel doesn't want its soldiers to be killed, it shouldn't send them to invade places.

Targeting civilians (and bombing somewhere where hundreds of civilians are sheltering is targeting civilians) is to me never acceptable. I said similar things during the beginning of the Iraq war wrt "collateral damage."

I think that's one of the things that's really easy to say when it's not your home getting bombed, or your kid in the military.

I agree, but I hope that even if I had a loved one in the military I would still feel that if the choice is between protecting military and civilian lives, regardless of nationality, the civilians ones should take precedence. And that danger to my home does not justify the taking of hundreds of lives of people who are not involved in putting it in danger.
