Oh The Thinks You Can Think!*

I was having a general look around The Body Shop today, as one does, and found myself thinking, "Boy, is this shop hot!"

Then I thought of my Gran, who used to like going round the shops, but would make the same complaint.  I smiled.

Lately they've started to provide "recyclable" plastic bags at the shops around here.. Good thing is, well, they are recyclable.. Meaning they can be put in the compost bin. Bad thing? well they are mainly a single use token. The minute they are wet they start to... crumble? disintegrate? ...
I'm not sure it's that efficient in the end...

When a new supermarket opened here, around 30 years ago, they too had biodegradable plastic carrier bags. In this case they were photo-degradable, I think. So they were good for more than one use, provided it wasn't too sunny.

They also had quite a large Green aisle.

Then they got the measure of the area, cut the Green aisle down to one shelf, and started using ordinary plastic bags. Eventually they sold out to a bigger supermarket chain.

I don't know whether it'd take off better if they started promoting Green stuff again. It's more mainstream now after all.

And then, nothing "proves" you that green is really green...

Indeed. I'm going to have to look at some of the fruit I'm now buying, 'food miles' and all that.
