I haven't written anything in a while! I have tons of ideas, but real life seems to be getting in the way; and then when I do sit down to write, nothing really comes out right. It's like the words are choking.
So here's the plan to break out of this:

She bends over Selphie's broken arm, casting Curaga, while simultaneously snapping at Zell to put something on Squall's face to stop the bleeding -- and wonders, vaguely, whether she really was a bad Instructor.
2. Blood
Xu is a bit too happy and a bit too drunk, and her elbow knocks the glass over into a pile of shattered shards and rum; Quistis, also mostly-drunk, reaches in, grabs it. The blood wells up on her ring finger and she thinks, dumbly, that only someone like her could make it through a SeeD trial unscathed and then cut herself in celebration.
3. Guns
Quistis is terrible with guns; they take much too long to load and aim, and she doesn't have the patience. She ends up bashing the Grat over the head with the solid end, and trading it in for a whip the next day.
4. Life
It's the most complicated spell she's cast yet, mainly because she's terrified; the cadet in front of her isn't breathing, and she can't seem to, either.

She has no feeling left in her toes, no air left in her lungs, and no tears left in her eyes -- all she can feel is space, and stars, and she can't even remember how she got out here, and this must be what it is like to die.

Rinoa smoothes her ivory skirt over her legs for the tenth time, takes a daring sip of her champagne, and grits her teeth. She's come this far -- she's not going to chicken out because of a man in a sweater vest.
3. "shattered glass"
She wonders sometimes whether the image in her head -- spiderwebs of cracklines above, shattered teardrops below -- is actually from the car crash, or if she made it up so she could pretend she hadn't forgotten the whole thing.
4. "hearts"
Her letters to Seifer were always spotted with doodles: curly spirals, "i"s dotted with bubbles and hearts. As Rinoa sits down in Esthar to write to Squall, she thinks of it for a second, and can't help but laugh at her younger, dumber self.

It is enough for her to bow after every battle, to take a deep breath, to smile at her guardians and heal the small wounds -- Yuna can celebrate those victories, at least, because then she doesn't have to think about the big Final Victory at the end.

It's the first time magic from her own fingers has torn into an enemy like that; Yuna feels the rush of power as the pyreflies explode, and she sneaks a little look at Lulu, wondering if black magic feels like that, too.
3. Outcast
In Bevelle, they always looked at her a little bit funny, and Yunie never noticed until she came to Besaid: Wakka met her gaze straight-on, her very first day on the island, and asked what was wrong with her eyes.
4. Fear
She concentrates on her very small and useless fears: the fiends they face, that Auron might get injured, that Tidus might try to kiss her (or - might not try), that Rikku might blow herself up. She can't think about anything bigger than that, because she's actually too scared to be afraid.

"Change your gloves!" Cameron snaps at her, and she realizes she's still got a bit of that man's blood on her hands; "Sorry," Cam says, smiling sheepishly. "I'm used to yelling at idiots. What do you need?"

"They think House hired me because I'm a girl," she says, frustrated and angry. "They think Cuddy took me on just to have a female on the team, they think House hired me because I'm pretty..."
Cameron shrugs. "They said the same things about me."

After the first bottle, Thirteen admits that a girl's-night-in was an excellent idea; after the second bottle, she's admitted that House could be sexy in a terrible asshole sort of way, thatshe thinks Cuddy has the hots for him, and that she thinks Wilson might be gay. After the third bottle, she's seriously contemplating telling Allison that she's bisexual and seeing what happens.

"I can't," Cameron says, looking disturbed. "I just - I can't get dragged back into this, Remy. I left House's team for a reason, and ...I'm sorry."

He hasn't been able to play the harp since that first time he used it to kill -- how would he have known his song could do that? -- but here, in Kaipo, it's like the night's silence is begging him to break it.
2. Frozen
He can barely move as Anna's lips leave his; she pouts at him a little, and says uncertainly, "That wasn't exactly the reaction I was hoping for..."
3. Mirror
The Troian doctors are helping him walk to the bath when he sees it -- a face somewhat familiar but gaunt, paler than ever, with lines on his brow that he'd never seen before. Edward stops and stares, trying to remember how he looked with a crown on his head.
4. Disappointment
"No, I do not approve of you marrying some wandering bard!" Tellah roars, and Edward winces. Anna's face is crestfallen. Tellah, enraged, raises that silly staff over his head: "Out! Out, I say!"
5. Victory
He wonders, vaguely, why they celebrate after every fight; eventually he decides that Cecil is a Knight, and for him, killing must be something to be proud of.
