I think the thing I've always liked about this one is, exactly as you say, that Achilles just sort of zeroes in on Hector, goes after it, and Hector is just too weary and pissed to say no. It says a lot about both of them. *g*

I really got the sense, in the film, at least, that these two men had met before, in some other battle, so I wanted to explore that idea. Glad to know this worked for you!!! :)
