Have any of you applied for a US renewal passport from inside the UK? How long did it take to get it back after you sent it in? It's not terribly urgent, but I really need to send it off to get a new visa put in it. Bad timing :(

Do you mean a US passport renewal? I did and was surprised how quick/easy it was. It must've still taken a couple of weeks but not bad at all.

I don't remember how fast it was, but it was fast. They really do a good service down at Grosvenor Square!

less than 5 working days for mine last year -0 it was scary quick

Wow. That's about 1/8th of the time it took me to renew last year in the US. (They did apologize.)

Renewed mine early for the same reason in 2007 and I seem to recall it was under 2 weeks. Of course it was totally rendered moot by said passport with new visa being stolen less than a month after getting ILR. Sigh. Getting a replacement from the embassy was a relatively painless/straightforward process, though required a trip to London. Should you ever need to know what to do if your passport's stolen in the UK.
