job prospects after post-grad study

Hello,

I'm a(n) stupid american looking to study in a taught MA program in the UK in the fall. I am wondering if anyone can share their experiences about trying to get a job in the UK as an american after completing postgrad study. My ultimate career goal is to teach at the uni level, and I plan to continue with PhD studies after my MA, but I am ( Read more... )

It's so hit and miss, frankly, that I wouldn't like to speculate on the odds. Moreover, the goalposts (including Europe-wide* legislation ones, re: work, visas, terms and conditions, etc.) keep moving.

I wish the OP success, but competition for jobs is domestic, too.

Sorry -- I take offense to people calling themselves "Stupid American". The stereotype gets a little tiresome without Americans themselves perpetuating it. I apologize for being out of line with my comment.

I completely agree with that--it's tough to draw the line when sometimes folks' meaning doesn't always carry over so well in text.
