I was very productive yesterday, but, as is typical when I have to interact with bureaucracy and large clots of strangers at length, things went awry

I thought your rant was hilarious but I think you missed the point of the Beachles, which was to frustrate and annoy. Once again it seems to have worked. BTW, the video game noises were made from the Beach Boys vocals, which couldn't have been easy. I don't think anyone else could have done a better job.
You should check out some of the guy's other music sometime. It's a bit easier on the ears.
You're so right! I did not get the joke. I understand that the project was intended to tweak certain Powers That Be, but unlistenable is unlistenable. Give me a musical joke I can share with listeners, though, and I find every opportunity to do so (RX, 'Tism, Tom Lehrer, Bob Ricci, The Rutles, Liam Lynch, funny remixes / mash-ups / covers, et al).
It is impressive that the video game noise samples were vocals tweaked a la Todd Rundgren's "A Capella" album.
It's clearly not the kind of musical joke I enjoy, alas.
I wasn't trying to say that you aren't "with it" enough to get the joke, but to me the Beachles record is quite listenable. At the risk of sounding pretentious (like a few noise-lovers I know) it seems to be a collection of collages more than a remix album.
Much of it strays far from mash-up territory and is more like modern electroacoustic music. All that clunkiness you refer to is obviously deliberate. Some of his other mash-ups are incredible - particularly the Wings vs. Ne-Yo track, which is both funny and fun to listen to. Unfortunately it's no longer available at his site, but you can probably find it with a P2P app.
Product is a clear vinyl cling that you apply to a sticker (or decal, whichever)-- and it clings to an inside window. Works a treat, I bought it for my own residential parking sticker.
It'll get better... for awhile...k_in_sfSeptember 28 2007, 21:08:42 UTC
Why don't you see if you can do to the sticker what some people do to the ones on their tags? Slice a thin line with a razor then use clear polish over it. Not great for the glass, but if you did it really well it would hardly touch the glass, but prevent the theft. Probably.
You know what a cool job would be? Choosing the music for adverts and soundtracks. I need to find out what that job title is and how to get hired to do that. I assume it is tied in with music licensing. I think some writers/producers come up with their soundtracks first and then write their movies around them. Maybe? Speaking of films and sound... check out Lisle Engle on IMDB: http://imdb.com/name/nm0257500/ I haven't talked to him in a several years, but he's really doing well, huh?! Good for him to take what he loved and succeed in what is a somewhat risky career

Thi8s has been a hot topic on campus, I found.
So much so that SCAD has claimed that if you have your sticker ripped off, you can have another for free. I assume someone has to inspect the residue it left behind, though.
They re claiming that barcodes indeed cannot be scanned (at least by SCAD Security's handheld technology tools) through tinted car glass or through a lot of grime, thus the decision was made to put them on the outside. The designer, however, intended for them to go on the inside, and the decision to stick them on the outside was 100% SCAD's.
So, if there ism a big problem with sticker theft, we know who to blame.
you know the song on the Outback Steak House adverts, 'Let's go Outback tonight'?
The real version of the song is quite pleasant. It's called 'Wraith Pinned to the Mist', and it's by a band called Of Montreal. The first time I heard the track was in a cinema, before the movie began (back in the days-- at least a year ago-- before they started showing television adverts in the cinema here, sigh).
anyway, I *NEVER* hear songs I like on first listen, but the bass groove on this one sucked me right in, and I scribbled some of the lyric on my hand so I could find it later online. Did so, bought it on iTunes, and have been enjoying ever since.
When it turned up on the Outback ad I was slightly crestfallen.

I have played Of Montreal on my radio show for several years now. :) :) The full title is "Wraith Pinned to the Mist (And Other Games)". The "yugga-dugga" guitar and slow "stair stepping" bass is pretty catchy. :) I actually loathe the Outback commercial version. On the other hand, the BP commercial ("Say Hey") is far catchier than the non-commercial version ("LA" by Message of the Blues

I notice that songs I consider "showers" tend to be poppy and upbeat in general. There are some that aren't, albeit nto as many, but I suppose my mental file cabinet is dredging up songs of a certain type at the moment.

I have a solution to your parking sticker woes, though. Go here: http://www.stickershield.com/use.html

Hope things get better.
