Chuck curls his hand around Sarah’s, lightly pressing his thumb to her wrist. He quickly looks at her for approval, still not sure where exactly they land on the fake/real couple graph. He kissed her two weeks ago with his eyes closed tight, but then again, he kissed Jill last week with his eyes wide open. He’s kind of confused.
“Hey, uh,” he says, smiling and swinging their hands. “It’s a thing couples do, right? I mean, shopping and hand holding. At, uh, the same time. Right?”
Sarah smiles, sort of nods her head, and pats his arm. “It’s fine, Chuck.”
“Yeah, good. Okay.”
With his free hand he grabs a can of cranberry sauce off of the shelf and then looks back down at the grocery list that Ellie quickly scribbled out before she left for an emergency appendectomy this morning. At the bottom, in Awesome’s writing is: Dude, don’t forget the ( ... )

You’re sitting on the side of the road somewhere in between Lawrence and Junction City. The car that you stole finally ran out of gas and he’s the only person you’ve seen for miles. He looks familiar, maybe like some jock football player you went to high school with, except that he’s kind of rough around the edges-already beaten by the road and by life.
You thought that maybe Superman would rescue you, because even though you like to think that you’re not the same girl who’s still in love with Clark Kent, really that’s all you are. But, you figure that a black car is close enough to a red cape, so you climb into his front seat and he smiles.
