Okay, many of you have heard about my misadventures with the mouse that seems to have invaded our space. Emma, of course, does sh*t about it. Hell, she's actually watched him run by her and not even bothered to move. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt because she's old, but I secretly suspect she's just lazy and over-fed.
Anyway, I just spent like ten minutes chasing the little bugger (the mouse, of course, not Emma) around the kitchen in an attempt to catch him under a pot or something. Basically, I wanted to catch him alive, take him outside, and release him back into the wild where he belongs. I don't hate him as a creature and will avoid killing him, if possible. He's cute, but I don't really want to share my kitchen space with something that poos on the counter. Sadly, though, I was unsuccessful at accomplishing anything besides the fact that he, apparently, lives behind the stove.
Note: I say "him" because I'm being hopeful. If he's a she, that could lead to more mice. Hell, there could, gawd forbid, even be more already. ****shudders****
We have a few of the old-fashioned mouse traps, but so far they haven't worked. Hopefully, I can borrow some of the "humane" ones from Elizabeth, because I prefer that option. First off, as I said before, I don't really want to kill anything. Second, those snapping traps scare me. I'm always afraid someone will catch a toe or that Emma, Verde, or Oso will go for the cheese and get caught on the tongue. Emma and Verde are probably too smart, but, poor Oso, I wouldn't put such a thing past him. The dogs are not over all that much, but when they are, they're all over.
