Heat and Smoke

Jun 15, 2011 13:40

OMG! It is sooooo hot. It's probably only in the low 90's, but it feels a lot hotter. This has been going on for almost two weeks and it's unseasonable and getting very, very old. When you combine that with the smoke from the nearby brush fires it makes the middle of the day pretty damned nasty for working outside. The upside of it all is that I've ( Read more... )

ewww ewwww ewwww to the heat but especially to the smoke. The win shifted but for a week we were socked in with smoke from down your way. I can't imagine how awful it is there cause you're right there and we're waaaay up here.

Picture of it! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DScCO8sINCU/Teug12dfWoI/AAAAAAAAFOI/RBM4XAZCHOA/s1600/DSC08828.JPG

I hate smoke. Also it's awful cause when it cools down at night it's no hope because the smoke either traps the heat or it smells like hell outside.

That sucks. The only good thing about it is the sunsets.

Most of the smoke seems to be coming from Arizona. Stupid, Arizona! Thanks for the second-hand smoke, assholes!

Ugh about the heat! I can only imagine how the fires must make it even worse.

At least the wind has picked up and cleared much of the smoke.

Stay Safe! and know that we'll be praying for you and yours. I'm sooo sorry about your Summer Solstice celebration. If the smoke isn't too bad why don't you have an early morning picnic outside and welcome the Sun King as he rises that's what Tanya and I are going to do. Good Luck with the wedding I hope and pray everything works out.

Thanks!

The party has been a tradition since New Buffalo was founded in 1968. They've done it every year since. This time, though, it's not actually on the Solstice, but that's because Tuesday is not a good day for a party - even a hippie party.

We spend most of the summer on total fire bans and water restrictions.
Well, I say summer, it's more like from early to mid spring until mid autumn in most places.

This last year was odd because we had so much rain. Wettest summer since the 50s I think. Floods all up the whole of Eastern Aus.
Our road to town was cut of 7 or 8 times and usually it's bone dry out here. Our water tanks were overflowing. Gave us a chance to get used to being only on tank water before we hit drought though.

It's a shame the ceremony and party can't go ahead as planned though.

Smoke is terrible when it just hangs there. I can't go outside without my asthma causing huge problems when it's like that.

Hope things go as well as they can this weekend
