Um. So. I was totally up until 8 this morning reading this, and then I woke up at eleven so I could carry on reading before I had to leave, and now I want to cry because I hadn't really processed that it was a WIP and I NEED MORE. This is not my usual AU cup of tea, but wow you do it really really well and I am in love with Sherlock and also with John and ... just ... well, this is really really good, despite the potential squickyness. I'm so intrigued and frustrated that I can't make out what the case is, and I want to know what Mycroft has done, and good god I hope he's not planning to sell John o.O Can he even do that if he's Sherlock's? Ack. Also JIM! He's been lurking in the background just being threatening and then suddenly he was there in that last bit and rteifjlkadsadfsljk I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON and then I want Sherlock to whisk John away to 221B and for them to be happily ever after in their own little way.
Ahem. I mean. TL;DR, I'm sleep deprived and it's your fault and I can't wait for more. <3
I am so sorry to keep you up! Okay, I'm not really sorry. But. I sympathize. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, despite its not being your usual thing. I love these characters, too; they're so fun to torture play with!
I want to know what Mycroft has done, and good god I hope he's not planning to sell John Ruh roh! I hope not, either!
I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON and then I want Sherlock to whisk John away to 221B and for them to be happily ever after in their own little way. Ahh, isn't that what we all want? Come on boys, get it together!
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, even in your sleep-deprived state! I try to give a bit of closure to each installment, so it's not to terribly frustrating as a WIP. The next part is well underway, I promise, and though it's mostly flashback, it may answer some questions. More is on the way!!!
Wow I had this page bookmarked to read later for so long but I never thought I could ever love a story about slaves but you are writing an amazing series, I can see so clearly all four of them even in this world and you made me into a huge Mycroft/Lestrade shipper.
Thanks for giving this a chance, despite your reservations about the subject matter. I'm so glad you're enjoying it! To tell you the truth, I've come to love Mycroft/Lestrade much more through writing this, so I'm happy my secret mission to convert people is working, mwah ha ha!

Hi! I'm really enjoying this fic and looking forward to the next installment.
It's a fascinating universe and I was wondering how parts of it worked. Such as inheriting the Lord Holmes title. Since there's been no mention of Mycroft having a child (I'm guessing he/she would be away at boarding school most of the time), I'm assuming Sherlock is Mycroft's heir, as the younger son. But who is Sherlock's heir?
If he's now doing more dangerous work and occasionally getting shot at, Mycroft can't assume Sherlock will outlive him and would surely have a contingency plan.
I can't help thinking that Sherlock and Irene Adler would have a frighteningly intelligent child--and I'm sure Mycroft would make sure he/she was educated enough to have a chance of taking over Mycroft's job--but that would totally conflict with Sherlock's feelings for John. Problems, problems... :)
Lots of good writing luck for the upcoming months!

Interesting that you bring this up! Yes, I think the question of succession is something that's very much on Lord Mycroft's mind, especially considering Sherlock's unfitness for leadership. I can neither confirm nor deny that Mycroft has a plan in place to deal with this... ;)
Wow! I am so glad I braved to read this verse. It's absolutely beautiful and sad at the same time. I usually shy away from slave fics coz I feel poorly for John but the way Sherlock has developed his feelings towards our doctor is sweet in its own way. Can't get enough. Will be looking forward for your continuation (hopefully, there is now that they're exclusive ^^ This is an absolutely gorgeous fic! Thanks for the master rec!! man, i get more and more hungry with Johnlock fics because of such captivating creations such as this
I'm happy you gave this a try, despite it not being your usual cup of tea. I go back and forth in this verse with who I feel sorrier for-- but everyone seems to get their fair share of angst. Thanks for taking the time to read and share your thoughts on this 'verse!
