As for good Harry Potter stories, it depends on what eras/pairings/characters you are looking for. If you want good Lily/James fic, I think that you will find the greatest preponderance of it at thegreatbreak/UR.org. I can give you recommendations for other types of HP-fic if you like, just let me know what you want :D

Similarly to Lily/James fics, a fair amount of good Sirius/Remus fics can be found at thegreatbreak/UR.org. Unfortunately, I tend not to read the other ships as a matter of course, but I do have the following suggestion: if you go to the homepage of livejournal, there is a search option. Type the ships there, and make sure that "Interest" is selected before clicking search. That will give you a list of the communities that are interested in those ships and you should be able to find some fic there. Also, there are many newsletters on livejournal that are devoted to ships, characters, "best in the fandom", uncommon pairings, etc.

quibbler_report is devoted to unusual ships, hogwarts_today is general Harry Potter fandom, daily_snitch is also general Harry Potter fandom (I follow those three). In addition, you can find websites and forums devoted to practically any ship if you search (even google shows a lot). I'm not really all that familiar with the pairings you listed, unfortunately ( ... )

Here I was going to comment on the story. I love your tips on how to find some good Lily/James fics. I've been looking all over for some but as I am also fairly new to the fandom I didn't have a clue where to look. Just to add a note I have had some good sucess with FA becasue they seem to require at least minimal beta reading.

Man, someone should start a whole post just on where one can find good, well characterized, non cliche, maurader era fics. That would be sweet.

On the chapter, I enjoyed the conflicted feelings that Lily apparently has towards James and I like that although you showed him as a kind of sweet guy he's still a bit... shall we say... clueless and annoying. Good job.

On to chapter four.

At least minimal beta reading is always good, unless you apparently are a black hole for beta readers (I've never had one last more than a year ;p). And definitely check out unknowableroom.org.

Thank you! Some people have commented that James is perfect - which is a bit alarming since we see him from Lily's POV (so therefore, we see his flaws) and he isn't perfect. He screws up, he's arrogant, he's clueless (as you saw), and he does have a temper. But we'll be seeing more of that later...
