[Maes' back is to the PCD as he kneels on the ground, carefully putting children's books away on a small shelf. A rather large stack of books rests in the crook of one elbow. He's singing very quietly, a lullabye. The top shelf is only half-full and the books keep trying to tip. Maes has nearly finished filling it when he puts several in too

[Maes starts opening up drawers and retrieving all of the needed items as well as pulling a pair of mugs out for the both of them.]

[True to his words, he pulls out the sugar. He often adds just a little to tea. He doesn't know how Hawke takes his tea.]

[He doesn't normally let someone stand behind him. Too many years in the military and all that. So Maes turns, looking at Hawke.]

[That was all Maes said, relaxing into the hug and hugging back. This was even easier than the hugs with Kakashi and Al - he didn't feel like he was letting Hawke down. He'd never been an anchor for Hawke. Exhaling softly, Maes focused on just breathing.]
