Thirty-sixth snapshot [Accidental Video]

[Maes' back is to the PCD as he kneels on the ground, carefully putting children's books away on a small shelf. A rather large stack of books rests in the crook of one elbow. He's singing very quietly, a lullabye. The top shelf is only half-full and the books keep trying to tip. Maes has nearly finished filling it when he puts several in too shallowly, causing the small bookshelf to lean forward and then topple, spilling all of the books on the ground.]

[He takes a deep, shaky breath, and just stares at them before dropping the rest of the books on the ground and sitting. One book gets picked up and thrown at the wall. A dent is left and he gets up quickly, touching it, checking if it's repairable.]

Dammit.

[It's quiet but clear, and the hand by Maes' side clenches. He half-turns, looking for where the book went, and bumps into the full-size bookcase, the one mostly filled with photo albums. Maes reaches out, too slowly. Several albums topple to the ground, photos spilling everywhere. He rests his face in his palm for a moment.]

[The moment over, Maes reaches down with a shaking hand and picks up one picture, taken at the one picnic he had both of them for. His face crumples and he stumbles to the couch. Sitting down heavily Maes rests his elbows on his knees, head bowed and face hidden. His drop onto the couch is enough to shake up the pile on the end table his PCD is sitting on, and it falls to the ground and turns off.]
