Yeah, most Swedes don't "get" iced tea. It's starting to grow on me though!

I'm back home now. We were already digging into the food before I remembered to force them to do it the "right" way and give their thankful-for things. But they all were just as charmed by it this year as last.

And just as last year, they all raved over the green bean casserole most of all. Everything else on the menu takes forever to prepare and everyone loves the thing that involved popping open a few cans of stuff!

Thanksgiving is the nicest American tradition to me. I wish we could have adopted that one instead of Halloween which to me is just some commercial jippo and interferes with "allhelgodagen" which is a nice day to remember and think about your lost loved ones. So far from Halloween business as possible. Because over here, that's all it is. A way to make money - it has absolutely nothing of cultural value here.

But being thankful for what you have and blessed to have your friends and family - that is something shared by all human beings, no matter where we are, colour, religion, whatever. It's universal.
