Today is the day I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with my Swedish family.
I found recipes for cornbread and biscuits that use ingredients I can actually find.
I found turkeys, though small ones, and I'll cook two of them.
Paid WAY too much for canned yams and cranberry sauce at Grey's American Store. I won't do that again next year but I can do it every other year anyway.
Making dressing. My mamma's mamma's mamma's dressing. Everyone has at least one dish that defines Thanksgiving. For me it's that dressing.
Mashed potatoes. Björn will make gravy for me from the turkey drippings. Green bean casserole. Iced tea even though the Swedes will politely decline the ice. They've already discussed the *gasp* wine selection. Wine at Thanksgiving?? Not in my family. But we'll have wine at our Swedish Thanksgiving.
And I'm going to attempt a pumpkin pie with canned pumpkin pie filling I also paid too much for at Grey's.
We even have one relative coming who everyone else is a little iffy on.
Yep, a real Swedish-American Thanksgiving today. Gobble gobble gobble! (What DO Swedish turkeys say anyway?)
