I can say that Aileen has joined the reading world. She has hovered around it for a while but today has read words I don't thinks she saw before
( Read more... )
this is not unlike the story where my aunt and uncle told me to stop climbing on the hood of their car, and I explained that I was reading the inspection sticker. They said, no you're not. I said, State of New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles. They said, okay, you are, but get down anyway.
Oh she's great -- "I liked the free part better" !!!
She's also managing a lot of bigger words! Kat started a bit more slowly, but I remember still the day that she demonstrated that she was reading things she hadn't seen before...
She was 5, we'd been out running around, and pulled through a Burger King and grabbed her some chicken 'nuggets'. We usually didn't go there, and she didn't watch commercial tv, so she had not seen ads for the various fast food chains. A little voice comes from the back of the car... "Mommy, why do my chickens say bur..ger on them?" (at the time they had decided to write the words Burger King in large letters sort of slantways across the packaging) It took me by surprise enough I had to really pay attention to driving, lol.
Enjoy her!! (and her little sisters, who will soon be racing to catch up)
