I had one of those on a 4,600 word one (!) - literally the same opening. The reviewer also added that she was "...not much of a fan of the movie!Avengers or Pepper Potts". And then said nice things about a story focused on Pepper. Maybe it's a weird way of complimenting a writer?
But with all the 50 - 150,000 word stories out there, it just struck me as a really weird thing to say! Because 4,000 words isn't really that long. Anything less is more likely to be a scene than feel like an actual story to me.
Ha. That's funny! :-) But, yeah. 4000 words is, like, normal? I think my own average hovers around 10k, because I've written some monsters in the Voyager fandom.
My average story is right about 10K words. I've only published two that were under 4,000 words. And I've got quite a few lengthy ones that are still WIP.
