State of the Back - Part 2 - Trip to the doctor

So back on September 13th I went to the doctor about my back. Basically she said I was doing everything right (massage, trying to stretch more, not doing any heavy lifting). I’d taken anti-inflammatories for a bit, but mostly only when the pain got bad. She wanted me to try them on a regular basis and gave me a prescription for 800mg ibuprofen ( Read more... )

Good! It seems I've missed a lot by not reading LJ for a while. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.

I'm not a person who likes to take drugs. But since ibuprofen is an anti-inflamatory, it's not just a pain reliever but can help take pressure off the pain area so it can heal.

I think you're right on target about the stretching too. If you can, Google leg anatomy and try exercises to stretch all the muscles all the way around your legs and hips. It's sometimes the tiny little ones that are the most tight because we all basically sit for a living.

Yay optimism! The biggest battle when you're feeling achy is in your head. Go Jul!

Well, I haven't been writing too much about it, because I hate people who whinge all the time about every little ache and pain. And for a long time that's all it was, a little bit of pain or stiffness some days. And it still doesn't hurt all the time, at least not bad. But I store my tension in my back. And I've been tense and stressed ever since Boss Fella died. So things kinda went downhill fast this summer. But I'm working on it. And things ARE feeling better. Which is a load off my mind.
