I haven't done one of these in a very long time... busy life, moved on. However, I feel the need to release some, I don't know, voicings to the interwebs (yes, I just typed 'voicings' -- it's Monday. Sue me). So here we go:
Friday night - worked Front of House for Holy Ghost at Theatre of NOTE. If you are in LA, you MUST see this show. It's an incredibly piece of theatre, well-written, well directed and superbly acted (and I honestly don't say that just because these are my actors). Though I didn't watch the show Friday night, it sounded amazing (and I did see it Thursday AND Sunday :P). The opening night party was more enjoyable than anticipated and as such I ended up staying until 1:30am, not going to bed until after 2am and needing to get up at 7:30am on Saturday for...
Saturday - Up early for chiro. Far too early based on when I went to bed. Amazingly I did not pass out at any point Saturday. Instead my internal stress responses decided to take control of my mind and body and made me do what the women in my family do in times of extreme crisis: cook.
I made Parmesan-Breaded Chicken, Shredded Mexican Chicken, Chocolate Crinkle Cookies and Crumble-Cake Muffins. Way too much food for just me (and my roomie who's never home anymore), so baked goods are being distributed to my co-workers this week.
In the midst of all this cooking insanity, I also caught up on TV from this past week.
FlashForward: Intense. However, I'm very happy with the outcome. Hopefully next week we can get back to focusing on other important issues... like Dommeh.
Vampire Diaries: Seriously, if Ian Somerhalder gets any hotter, I may pass out during a viewing of that show. The dance with Elena? Hello to Fantasy Land. Also, last week I was internally complaining that Bonnie has been gone for a long time. This week she's back. Thanks for listening to me, cheesy vampire show :)
Smallville: Very mad at the guide description for this episode, which was basically: Chloe discovers Zod has powers. There was a key element missing from the episode based on this description. Know what it was? ZOD. :P to you, CW -- your false guide listing, and your lack of Callumy-goodness. :P to you with nobs on!
Riverworld: As Sci-Fi Original productions go, this was pretty good - which means I didn't really want to slit my wrists, throw up, or roll my eyes more than fifty times during the movie. What I did want to do is jump through my TV set and ravage Peter Wingfield from now until doomsday. The man is basically old enough to be my father. Does this bother me? Not in the least. For once I want a sequel to a Sci-Fi original. I mean, this had Methos on a horse, wielding a sword, fist-fighting, kicking Tamoh Penikett's ass and getting waaaaaaay more play than he ever got on Highlander. It is imperative there be a sequel with more all of the above.
Sunday - Slept in until almost 9am, which for me is like other people sleeping until noon. After struggling with exhaustion for an hour, finally got my butt out the door and to my car's shop. For the first time in, I think, two years I got out of there for less than $200. It was a bloody miracle. I was in such a good mood I actually went home and did the dishes from the extreme mess created by my day of cooking. I also managed to crank out about twenty pages of editing on NovelNo2 while waiting for my car.
Watched New Who -- two episodes as I hadn't had a real chance to watch last week's until then. I like episode three, though there was something that felt lacking in intensity once the Doctor got onto the *****s ship. Biplanes in space was pretty sweet. Also, the way the Doctor went after the ***** with the club, screaming, gave me chills. I was all, "NOOOOO! What if it tries to *********** you?!"
As for the second episode, I really enjoyed it. I love River Song. Love. Her. While some people may not think 'changing' how the weeping angels operate is as cool as before, I disagree. If you consider the ones in "Blink" were just stranded with no way to do anything but zap people away (which is why they were after the Tardis) and thus weren't capable of being 'full' angels, nor was the information about them previously revealed by any means all there was to know about them it leaves the door open for many possibilities. Possibilities that are now being explored and discovered. For me, it's still very creepy, just on a less primal level. I seriously went to wipe eye gunk from the corner of my eye last night and my hand started shaking when i pulled it away because I was afraid of... well, you'll have to watch and see.
Worked FoH for Holy Ghost again last night, and watched it as well due to a VERY small but appreciative house. Even though I had hit 'so exhausted I'm about to fall on the floor' by that point, the show was still amazing.
Did I mention I got my Merlin DVDs this weekend as well? Finally! Now I can drool over Pierrefonds (and Colin Morgan) whenever I want! Plus I can giggle at the cast diaries - especially Colin's warped sense of humour, Bradley's adorable whining (for some reason on him it works), and the infamous hotel door sign (J'em appelle Angel. Je suis LOSER). There are commentaries, too, and you can bet I'll be indulging in those. Now if only series two could be released on DVD...
