"You know me. I'm not leaving my brother alone out there."

I apologize for the delay in this post, and also for not having read anyone else's reactions yet. I waited for two reasons. First, I wanted to do a rewatch. Second, I wanted to let some of my thoughts settle before I posted. Early in the season I have a tendency to speak too soon, and say stuff I didn't mean.

Pretty much all positive below.

SPN 6x21 and 6x22 )

Yeah, sorry I was so incoherent last night. When I left ducksgowank's place I was actually feeling kind of sick and upset. Then I rewatched immediately and felt so much better.

i pretty much agree with everything you said. cas got pushed to making a grab at power because everything that he'd come to believe in seemed lost to him. dean realized too late what the consequences of him not having faith in cas would be. i hope that the main arc of next season will be about getting those souls back to purgatory and getting cas restored. i think next sesaon has the potential to be really awesome :D

I agree with your take on Cas' character arc. It was, to me, the most interesting one in show history.

If Cas is to be the big bad in S7, in the right hands he can be this tragic villian with incredible nuances. OTOH, I don't know how "Winchesters vs God" would work as a premise for S7. God!Cas's main beef is with Raphael's followers, he doesn't want apocalypse on earth. I don't see how God!Cas would create the sort of problems that the boys can/in the position to solve.

The worst case scenario, I think, is that Cas explodes in 7x01 and the stray purgatory souls wreck havoc upon the earth. (Considering the casting news, this is not impossible). I'd be really sad if Cas/Misha is out of the picture though.

Damn SPN, it's so difficult not to overinvest! XD

I agree. Cas isn't *really* God, after all. Not in the sense of Creator, or w/e. He's just a very, very powerful boss. Not only does Cas not have a beef with the Winchesters, the Winchesters don't have a beef with Cas. Their fight was always against destiny and Earth getting caught in the crossfire, and - at least as far as we know - Cas is still at least nominally in favour of not having Apocalypses. He does claim to be a better God, so he's not the same thing ( ... )

Sera Gamble delivered. All the plot threads were addressed and wrapped up. I thought the finale was fantastic. What a cliff-hanger! A super-powered Castiel as the new God and new big bad, what a fantastic set up for Season 7 ( ... )

I loved the finale and the season too. Although i ended being right. Dean did not learn anything from dealing with Sam back in season 4. He made the same mistakes again with Castiel. In fact, they had very similar scene where Dean reacted the EXACT same way.
Castiel pleaded to Dean to trust him and be on his side. But Dean said no. Same scenario where Sam asked Dean back in the honeymoon suite to trust him this once and have faith in him and to come with him but Dean said no then too. The break up led to both Sam and Castiel to loosing their mind state and giving it all up and embracing the isolation and putting all their chips into the goal no longer caring about what happened to them because they felt they had nothing to loose anymore. I wish Dean had remembered how eerily similar Castiel's plea was to Sam's and consciously tried a different method than rejection while not being on board with his goals.
