No one is expecting it when it happens, actually. Lily had had her suspicions as soon as James had broken it off with her, and Severus had been making insinuations for as long as possible, but nobody had actually expected to see it happen.
Of course, Sirius Black has a distinct tendency toward the unexpected.
That probably explains why, in the middle of an intense battle with the forces of You-Know-Who, he calls over to James Potter, "Hey, when we're done here, d'you want to go get married?"
It is a testament to how well James knows his Padfoot that this does not faze him, and a testament to their relationship that he says yes.
I'm not a particular fan of this pairing, but I am sooo a fan of this drabble. The last line is so sweet, and I particularly love the bit about Severus. Of course he would have done. XD
