Why Is It...?

Why is it that ticket providers charge you $6.95 just to pick your ticket up from the venue? Does it really cost you $6.95 for you to hand me the ticket across the counter ( Read more... )

I haven't bought the Colbie ticket yet but it was the same with the Pete Murray ticket, and you have to pay by credit card, there's no other way to do it.

Is it ticketmaster? UGH! 'Cause one time I bought Hanson tickets with cash and the fee was a little bit smaller.

Yep Ticketmaster and Tiketek aswell. Stupid thing was it said "choose ticket collection" and it said venue pickup was included in the ticket price, but then when I went to finish the ticket purchase process, they added the $6.95 on top! So it wasn't really included in the advertised price. :s

thats the most dumbest thing i have ever heard.. although when me and a friend went and bought our hanson tickets for the myrtle beach show they had to pay like two dollars more than me because he used a card and i had cash..

Yeah $2 isn't too bad. But it's $6.95 to pick it up from the venue, or $8.95 for them to send the ticket to your house! :s

yea.. thats gay.. i mean the convinence charges on the tickets are ridiculous as it is but to add a charge to pick your ticket up is retarded.. i can understand shipping your ticket.. but that shouldn't cost nine bucks

It's so stupid to have the fee, because you get it for pick up, you get it for mail out, you get it no matter how you get your tickets. So why isn't it just included in the ticket price?

It's stupid because the ticket price said that it included all fees, so why are they charging $6.96 or $8.95 again then? Grr!

Rolling Stone had an article about this a few issues ago. Apparently it all relates to the failing music industry, so people are trying to find other ways to make money. If they can force you to pay a meaningless fee, they will. At least until they get too expensive and people start refusing to pay.

I really need to do my Mayer writeup. Colbie's surprisingly natural as a singer, but I still can't get over how arrogant she was. I guess in that line of work you have to be to a certain degree, but usually people are better at hiding it!

Wow I haven't read Rolling Stone in years. Maybe I need to go to the library and borrow some out.

I think we all need to protest about this. Fair enough if the money is going to the artist but I highly doubt it is.

Colbie? Arrogant? Really? Wow I find that utterly surprising. How was she acting that way? Wow you really have to tell me. Now I feel disappointed to hear that. I just wouldn't think she was like that.

Rolling Stone's my only subscription. I'm depressed though, because they're changing the size to be the standard magazine size. I want it to keep its iconic shape!

Actually, they said the money for everyone is in touring. Older acts are benefiting from it the most, because their contracts give them a high share of their touring revenue. (It used to be that album sales mostly went to the record company, but money from touring went more to the artist.) Now contracts are changing so artists get less of the touring money, so the greedy beggars can keep it for themselves.

She just couldn't get over how gorgeous she was. She's pretty, even prettier in person, but not as gorgeous as she seems to think she is. All of her talking between songs was about how so and so had a crush on her, or how people always tell her how pretty she is, etc. She's a big Colbie Caillat fan. ;)

They're changing the size of Rolling Stone? Noooo! They can't do that. It's "iconic" as you say.

I can definitely see that the money is in touring. I mean it's not just the ticket sales... there's also the merch and the added CD sales that come with the promotion around touring time. It all gets generated from the touring. After reading what you said, it's no wonder so many artists are wanting to go indie, and I swear that's the trend that we'll see over the next couple of years.

Yesterday morning I was listening to Kyle do an hour of power with P!nk about her new album and they talked about her touring Australia and how she was meant to do a max of 6 shows which of course turned out to be 33 and how even though it was hard for her, she loved and of course her label loved the money that came out of it. She said they've learned to set aside a greater amount of time to tour for Australia because it's obviously going to sell well again.

You know I just wouldn't think, looking at Colbie, that she would be like that.
