I didn't know what to do.

I wanted....I wanted to stop everyone. To help everyone. But instead I just stood there.

...why were they attacking? That can't be something that happens often. There must have been hundreds...and they got past the guards at the elevators.

[Have some frustrated silence, Demeleier. Med'an's hero instincts seem to be ( Read more... )

I say, those are heavy thoughts for such a young mind. [There is a note of concern in his voice] Perhaps if I understood what you were speaking of, I could help?

[Young mind over here sighs. He knows, they're hurting his brain. 8( ]

Where you there for the fight at Undercity?

Since I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm going to say no. [He shakes his head sadly, and unseen by Med'an] Please explain?

The Guardian was able to open a portal to the Undercity - on Azeroth, where I'm from. But the Undercity is Horde territory, and the Alliance attacked while we were there...

[ 8( ]

I'm neither Horde nor Alliance. [...] So I didn't...know what to do.

[ Melusine is no stranger to war. She's no stranger to feelings such as those, either. Stop reminding her of herself asdfsbkgbsdf ]

Sometimes...sometimes you just have to stand back and let things run their course.

[so much for evil beastman, huh :p]

But I have the power to stop it. I mean...

[Well, he...thinks he does. Maybe. He's not sure.]

I'm supposed to protect people.

[That part he does know!]

[ If it wasn't obvious before, it is now: Melusine is speaking from experience, and it isn't a good one. 8< ]

...we all do. We all have the power to do something. But sometimes, no matter how hard we want to protect others...sometimes we can do nothing, no matter how hard we try. And sometimes we must do nothing.

But don't lose hope, Med'an. A-And...don't be so hard on yourself.

[Med'an may or may not be somewhat dense about these things. But she's obviously a soldier, and this does sound close to her heart. He is just going to look sadpanda.]

...I just need some direction. I need to know what to do...or what not to do.

[Spoken with a small, thoughtful frown.]

Choosing 'sides' in any war is a pointless - if understandable - exercise. It is better to fight for the good of the people, for peace. Anything else will only see fighting - needless fighting - drag on without end.

[His voice is sympathetic, full of understanding.]

Who could begrudge you such an action? The circumstances are difficult even for the most seasoned - inaction may be seen as a lack of merit for the most part, but in this? It is a willingness to do what is right, not to force oneself into an ill-fitting yoke...

Do not punish yourself over what happened. Put your conviction behind what you believe, regardless of what others think that should be.

But if we don't do anything...then what will happen? What if the fighting doesn't end, like you said?

[Oh so terse.]

The Alliance are a band of betrayers who care for nothing but their own gain. They came here to slay us, the armed and the innocent - surely the choice is clear?

[Oh. Med'an recalls his history lessons - or more like his political happenings lessons, since it wasn't too long ago that the blood elves split from the Alliance. She would be terse about it - but then he pushes on.]

But the orcs invaded the humans' land and slaughtered the draenei in Outland. [and quickly without pause - ] I know that they were taken by the Burning Legion. And the humans afterward enslaved them in camps - which isn't right - but now both parties keep the feud going through old hatreds, even with the Burning Legion defeated. The high elves practiced magic even though it was forbidden by the night elves, but the night elves themselves were too narrow minded and sequestered themselves from the world. The Forsaken are feared by humans because they're undead - which is understandable even if it's not merited - but they were doing things down in those tunnels.

[Yeah, he saw the cages. 8(It seems like the gnomes and dwarves, and the tauren and trolls, are on their sides because of honor and blood-debt, not for any real ( ... )

[She is silent, seething, even if she knows the truth of everything he says.]

The Alliance betrayed my people. They turned their back on us. The Draenei may -

[Well, they're a bit of a grey area now. She trails off lamely, sighing.]

I'm sorry. That wasn't right of them. But the Horde have done things too, and - both sides are good and bad. And I can't fight either one.

[He's more Alliance than he is Horde, even if he looks most like an orc. 75% of his blood belongs to the Alliance races. But he knows people from the Horde - not least of all Aureln - that he cares for too.]

While there are ...some with merits, they came into the city with the intent to do harm and murder. I would imagine it is not easy choosing a side, but...

As if you haven't befriended some within the Argent Crusade, Aureln! There are neutral parties to be had. Those who attacked obviously were not a part of that!

I fight alongside them to save Azeroth, they are not my friends. We speak not of neutral parties but of Alliance and Horde, the ones at war a war that we are a part of!
