But I feel like they ARE the show. They basically wrote and framed the show to cater to their talents, and it just didn't work because their personalities don't mesh well. Her hyper excitement just made him look even more bored (or high) and his 'don't give a shit' attitude made her seem even more over the top.
I love Cate's dress on her. It would've been a disaster on anyone else though.
Haha, it's true though. TKS did use a set that was used for gay porn (it's the famous set with the weird paper mache wallpaper). Look!
I did think Gwyneth's dress looked familiar when I saw it but then I realized it's really similar to Melissa Leo's SAG dress, which was also a silvery thing.
Haha, I know right? I guess this is the first time that the porno version was made before the actual movie. lol. And it doesn't help that Colin Firth had to put balls in his mouth.
The ones that I missed were Director, the Song/Score categories and the Shorts.
Those are the ones I missed as well and I agree that part of it had to do with my seeing them beforehand which is a little strange but oh well. tbh, I don't necessarily think Hooper deserved director (I was rooting for Aronofsky or the Coen brothers but I had Fincher down on my ballot since I knew the others wouldn't win) but I did kind of let out this yell of glee and shock when he stole it from Fincher.
I completely agree about the hosts. I think Anne Hathaway could have done very well on her own. I really adore her and think she's a fabulous performer but Franco sort of dragged her down, it felt like.
We have some of the same favourites re: fashion. My favourites were by far Hailee, Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, and Cate Blanchett.
Yeah, I just thought Madagascar, A Journey Diary was so easily the best one of the bunch that I thought they had to give it the Oscar. I really didn't care for God of Love; it was unmemorable to me. The short subject docs were all pretty good though. Good year for documentaries; the only doc I didn't like this year was RestrepoThe Hooper win was even more weird cause they didn't even seem to like The King's Speech THAT much; it only won 4, including Best Picture when it easily could've done 6 at least. Oh well, Fincher will probably be nominated again next year anyways and he'll get the advantage of being "overdue" because he got screwed over this year

Oh thank you! God of Love was my least favourite of the short films but all my friends seemed really charmed by it. I was shocked it won, to be honest.
Yup, the Academy is really good at the whole "overdue" thing. See: Jimmy Stewart's Oscar for The Philadelphia Story which some people partly gave also for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
Ahhh, yes, I was really distracted by Natalie's earrings. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed them.
Not to mention, Stewart was definitely supporting in The Philadelphia Story (Hepburn is the lead female and if anyone was the leading man, it was Cary Grant). Such an odd case of reverse category fraud. Of course, most actors end up winning for the wrong movies. Out of Katharine Hepburn's 4 Oscars, the only great performance of the bunch is A Lion in the Winter.
Man, I messed up pretty badly in the smaller categories. I saw all the docs and shorts and everything and I still got 'em wrong. D: However, I am happy Strangers No More won because it's adorable and I know a dude who did some translation for it (and I watched it again today at work!), and I'm happy that God Of Love won because that dude's from Brooklyn, where I live, and I saw him at the theatre when I saw the live-action shorts. :D And his speech was pretty adorable. I wanted ETtGS too, because it's awesome and for the LOLZ, but I guess you have to consider who's in the Academy and what appeals to them. :P

Haha, I think it's better for predictions to not even see them. I caught up on most of the shorts this year but I actually predicted better last year when I only saw like 1-2 of them. lol. I couldn't remember any of the speeches though. Nothing like last year when that crazy redhead lady hijacked the guy's speech, LOL. I knew they weren't gonna go for Exit through the Gift Shop, especially after we knew Banksy wasn't even going to be there! And yeah, they typically go for docs that make you angry about something and Inside Job is definitely super infuriating

I know. The most James Franco did was cross dress. I love him, but he shouldn't have accepted this job if he didn't care at all. I felt kind of bad for Anne cause she was trying SO HARD and his lack of caring only made her look even more desperate, lol.

Cate Blanchett's dress was fab. Haters don't get it.
