Yeah, I just thought Madagascar, A Journey Diary was so easily the best one of the bunch that I thought they had to give it the Oscar. I really didn't care for God of Love; it was unmemorable to me. The short subject docs were all pretty good though. Good year for documentaries; the only doc I didn't like this year was Restrepo.

The Hooper win was even more weird cause they didn't even seem to like The King's Speech THAT much; it only won 4, including Best Picture when it easily could've done 6 at least. Oh well, Fincher will probably be nominated again next year anyways and he'll get the advantage of being "overdue" because he got screwed over this year.

The thing that bugged me about the fashion was some bad styling. I liked Natalie's dress but her earrings were just tacky, Amy Adams kind of went overboard with the necklace and Hailee Steinfeld's headband jutted out of her head too much (should've gone for a flat band with that kind of sleek pulled back hairdo). I think Mila Kunis and Cate Blanchett had the best combination of hair, styling and dress.

Oh thank you! God of Love was my least favourite of the short films but all my friends seemed really charmed by it. I was shocked it won, to be honest.

Yup, the Academy is really good at the whole "overdue" thing. See: Jimmy Stewart's Oscar for The Philadelphia Story which some people partly gave also for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Ahhh, yes, I was really distracted by Natalie's earrings. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed them.

Not to mention, Stewart was definitely supporting in The Philadelphia Story (Hepburn is the lead female and if anyone was the leading man, it was Cary Grant). Such an odd case of reverse category fraud. Of course, most actors end up winning for the wrong movies. Out of Katharine Hepburn's 4 Oscars, the only great performance of the bunch is A Lion in the Winter.
