The Third Man is one of my favorite films and features some of the most memorable and iconic images in film history. Set in post-war Vienna, the historical city is almost like its own character in the movie with famed landmarks like the Riesenrad ferris wheel prominently featured in climatic scenes (it's where Orson Welles makes his famous cuckoo clock speech). The film also ends with one of the most recognized frames of all time, a scene that has influenced many latter day films including Martin Scorsese's The Departed. As you can see, the city suffered a great deal from the war with ruins and rubble featuring prominently throughout the film.
