Agree with so much of this, especially a lot of the acting stuff and very, very much with the 3-D "trend that needs to die." Go away, 3-D! I want my movies flat and pretty.
I can see something like Tron (haven't seen it, but I can imagine) being cool in 3D, but that's what places like Disney are for. I don't need to have every single movie in 3D and especially not movies that are supposed to be subtle and built around characters and such. And there's definitely no reason for tv to being going 3D. None whatsoever. Not to mention that 3D movies make people nauseous and light-headed, so that basically means people who are prone to seizures or have other health conditions won't be able to go see movies once they're all in 3D. Unless they somehow fix that problem.
I really need to see the Red Riding Trilogy. I noticed you gave them high marks so they must be worth watching. Honestly that's good to hear because I was only planning on watching them for bb Andrew lol. Thankfully they've been airing all three films on tv recently so I'll have the chance to watch soon-ish :)
Trend That Needs to Die 3-D GOD YES PLEASE, 3-D NEEDS TO DIE NOW.
The Red Riding Trilogy is definitely worth watching. Andrew is only in the first third actually, but all three parts are fantastic. There are full of super talented British actors.
I feel like people are so stupid for buying expensive 3D tickets when it doesn't do anything for the movie.
I agree 100% with your "Movies That Didn't Deserve All the Money They Made" list! Especially Alice in Wonderland.. and this is coming from someone that usually doesn't mind tim burton/johnny depp films. This was just a step over the mark for me.
Alice in Wonderland was just a disaster to me. I usually love Burton/Depp but that was just completely uninspiring in every way. (uhh, mad hatter break dancing? wtf). Even the technical aspects were mediocre and the movie looked kind of ugly.
The break dance nearly killed me. I knew there was something weird about to happen and then it was just like watching some tacky ice-age-style film for children. And the script was awful.. especially at the end when Alice is fighting and she recites the list of things or whatever. It was all an embarassment. I actually went to the Alice premiere in London (just to stand and wait for the people - we were there from 5am to 10pm :/) but I wish I had gone for a better film that actually deserved the attention. I didn't know its ridiculousness at the time.

I have the "Red Riding" trilogy in my Netflix queue. I'm glad to hear that it's good.

Red Riding is fantastic and has so many amazing British actors in it. Took me a while to get used to the dialects though.
