~Cool Facts About Dreamwidth~

Well, I know people have been pondering what Dreamwidth is about and all that, but it's really just like Livejournal! The way things are worded is slightly different (for example, the Friends page is called Reading page), but it's basically the same navigation system and posting system. I think after spending less than an hour looking around, I  ( Read more... )

I don't mind it for what I use it for, but customizing layouts isn't very user-friendly, the site as a whole is a bit dead, at least, compared to LJ, and tbh, I'm pretty planted here to ever convert my main blog over there, lol.

See, I don't agree with that though! I've mainly been on Dreamwidth for the past six months, and it's actually quite active! Maybe it depends on what fandom you're looking at--I know the Chinese fandom is a lot smaller there. =/ (But that's why you should bring it over, haha!)

I find it's actually a quite useful place, because the fandoms are growing even bigger now and that means far more comms coming in, but also it's a place that--for me--feels relatively safe to post personal entries in! I don't get that vibe from here on LJ, especially after what happened to another user where some staff member wrote creepy comments in one of her locked entries.

Anyway, all that being said, once you know how to do the layout thing (and I got the hang of it after reading that post once), it seems kinda easy! Plus, you only have to do it once for each layout choice, which is very nice indeed! ^_^

I guess it's a matter of what you're used to, isn't it?
I've been to LJ for years now and your AAA community is actually the only reason why I signed up over there.

What I actually wanted to ask...
since October is coming closer...
is there still a chance to meet you and your sister in Toyko? ;____;
I'd love to see you and flail over AAA and so on! ;~;

Maybe! But truthfully, Dreamwidth is not very different from LJ. Trust me, I know this because my friend had to force me to move because I didn't want to take the chance, thinking Dreamwidth would be completely different. It's actually exactly the same, with a few words changed around here and there. The only thing that's different is that you have a network button that shows you random communities you might be interested in, and if you want to import the flexible squares or smooth sailing layout, then you have to do something special. But that's it. There are still plenty of layouts to choose from! I've been on LJ since 2004, but I find it quite cozy on Dreamwidth, much more so than here. (But thanks for signing up for the community, haha~)

We're trying to get there, but still sorting out things with our home school right now. Though we have been accepted back by our school in Japan, so we'll hopefully be seeing you soon!

There's a new Ikemen community there that a group of us have started! It's gonna be spiffy! ^_^

Here are some quick benefits of Dreamwidth:

(1) Loads much faster because there are no annoying ads. (X_x)
(2) The Staff are super friendly and actually listen and help with any problems people have (they also take suggestions! ^^)
(3) Livejournal Layouts work on there and look good Good example here!
(4) It feels like such a fresh, clean, and friendly atmosphere. Too much trolling goes on here...

There's a lot of benefits. I was one of the people who didn't wanna move either, and I've kept my journal here for the sake of keeping in touch with my friends who didn't move or my fave communities. But I've met so many fantastic people on DW, and the communities are growing day after day, especially after the recent LJ Scandal. I think eventually people will see how nice Dreamwidth is. &hearts

But if anyone needs codes, I've got pouring on me, haha, so lemme know!
