Concurrence from the Des & Dylan camp.
We just got back... & we loved it!
I was NOT looking forward to this one.
I'm a contrary girl, & like those rats in the subway tunnel, I tend to scurry away from big, flashy hollywoodland type thingees.
I was happily wrong.

More importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! (tomorrow)

Yeah, I have issues with watching anything that pans around really fast, so Cloverfield will leave me feeling sick. You brought up a good point though. Why do people run in the opposite direction of fleeing animals? It makes no sense.

Happiness birthday!

They weren't running away from the rats, they ran in the same direction. They just didn't think it was significant that they should do so, and didn't speed up. This produced some complications, in one of the more interesting bits of the movie.

The interesting thing about the movie is that the movie doesn't lend itself well to a sequel, but it still could, though hopefully without requiring a Saving Throw.

If they were the rodents of gargantuan size, like the link I sent to you, then I would have been running a lot faster.
