This was great. Fitted in very well with the series, and you captured the character perfectly.
Thanks so much for sharing. I hope you write more.

Lovely fanfic. I think you got Cassie just perfect in this, I could just see her sitting there and watching the two boys.

And I liked the ending and didn't mind the pairing wasn't listed. I like surprises in my fics so usually the only warnings I read are ratings and plot synopsis =P

Cassie just seems like a pretty tolerant sort, especially since she was a socialator, and she would be fiercely protective of the boys once she knew what was what. :)

I feel the same way! :)

Very nice. I like that all of the musing is anchored around a moment in the OC that we can picture, and we keep coming back to that anchoring moment. It's easy to lose a sense of "here and now" in a fic that has a lot of back story, but you don't do that.

Also, I notice that you mentioned the different colonies' treatments of same sex marriage. Any chance this was inspired by the recent victory for gay marriage in Massachusetts?

Thank you! I'm happy when my writing is clear. :)

It was a thought, yes. :)

Nice ficlet, thanks. Wanted to point out your disclaimer: "Disclaimer: I don’t own ‘em, DC does, more’s the pity." (*grin*) Not quite sure who owns them (too lazy to look it up), but not DC.

One of the fun things about fanfic is that we get peeks at how the culture would have shifted as the colonists' journey continued. Seems that there would have been a fair amount of cultural reorganization out of necessity (even over a reltively short journey of five yahrens/years), and it's always interesting to see various writers' interpretations about what would stay the same/ change slightly/ change radically.

Of course, one fun thing to tinker with is the military fraternization regs -- can't throw them out entirely (need to preserve some structure), but how would they be reworked to fit the new world order? Karen Davis dealt with this quite well in "All Mixed Up" -- probably one of the best treatments I've found. Also extemely good example of guilty!Apollo ( ... )

LOL! I was using my DC template and forgot to change it.

Of course, the interesting thing about Starbuck & Apollo is that they're so close in canon that slashing them really isn't much of a stretch. In BSG, people probably got so used to these two being joined at the hip that they stopped seeing it, or simply mentioned "that's the way they are", and it (probably) took an outsider to introduce them to reality.

I just watched "Baltar's Escape" and when Tigh when looking for them, they were together, of course, in the Officers' Club. :) In the second half of the series they were constantly together. Bonus points for us slash fans! :)
