'Zactly! ;) Rhodey can fly around in the Iron Patriot suit without the glow-in-the-dark-chest, heh heh. :)

It'll be interesting to see how the studio moves forward if RDJ decides he's played the role enough. Not a problem for any future Avengers movies as the team has always had a lot of turnover on the roster.

Pretty fun movie! :)

I'm not much of a Marvel fan, but I think there have been times when Tony as used the Iron Man suits w/o the reactor being inside him. I'd expect the power source to be built in to his new suit(s) somehow.

If RDJ is not signed already, I think they're deep in to negotiations for Avengers 2. I expect to see Iron Man in Avengers 2, but I'm not sure about anything else. There have been the obvious talk of Iron Man 4, but also talk of RDJ wanting to move on.

I think with time off for RDJ, a good script, and the right money we'll eventually see Iron Man 4.

Oh, yes, I know he can power the suits without the reactor. I should have phrased that better! I meant that it seemed as if he was moving on because that arc reactor was symbolic of his time as Iron Man. I'm glad he's free of it, though, because that must have been a pretty awful reminder of Afghanistan and his vulnerability to that shrapnel.

I expect money will talk. ;) The studio will push hard for RDJ to return because his movies are such moneymakers. If the script is good, he'll probably consider it. And I do expect to see him in The Avengers 2, even if only in a limited role.

Perfectly fine, dear. That's what fandom's supposed to be about: a big tent that everyone can enter! :)

You know what I really loved about this story? I think that the Pepper/Tony romance was actually maturely handled and is probably one of the better-handled live action superhero romances in terms of them actually dealing with some adult issues without forced drama as well as them allowing the woman to be more than just the damsel in distress/reward for the hero being a hero ( ... )

Excellent points! I enjoyed the romance and Pepper kicking ass was one of the highlights of the film for me. :)

Needless to say, I loved seeing Pepper kick ass toward the end. And this is coming from me not being a fan of the way GP portrayed Pepper in the first movie.

:)

I actually loved the whole movie to bits and pieces. It was a lot of fun, but they actually had a decent amount of character focus and even a bit of realism in terms of dealing with Tony's PTSD after his near-death experience in the Avengers.

Yes! Though I thought they might flash back more to Afghanistan, but I guess they decided one problem at at time. :)

To be honest, the Christmas ( ... )

I saw it recently too! I really enjoyed it. A couple of the Christmas-themed jokes seemed to me to be a little belabored but it was a cute, fun movie. It really didn't even have a slow middle. I agree with you about Gwyneth, both in the way she seemed so paper-thin and the coolness of the armor. Although, I guess - I just now thought of this - maybe part of the take-away is the contrast between her frailness and post-extremis armored version? I don't know but I think my favorite thing was the way the suit was the extra character.. And the way the scruffiest version of the suit --well, you know.

Yep, wasn't slow at all! And the Christmas stuff was fun but a little odd in a spring movie, but whatevs. :)

That's something I hadn't thought of! Good theory. :)
