Chapter 3
Dongwoon tried not to feel overwhelmed as he stared at the never-ending pile of papers he had to go through. He understood that the upcoming merger with Lee Incorporations was a big step for his father’s business but he hated the workload that went along with it. He looked up when he heard a knock on the door and smiled as he saw his secretary saunter into his office.
“Mr. Lee’s son called earlier and left a message. He wants you to call him back when you get the chance.” His secretary spoke sweetly as she made her way closer to him. “Is there anything I can get you? Coffee?” She offered as she traced her finger along his arm while sitting on the edge of his desk.
“Hmmm…” Dongwoon smirked as he turned his swivel chair to face her, using his knee to spread her legs apart slightly. “There are a few things I’d like.” He said huskily as his fingertips grazed the inside of her thighs as she picked up one leg moving it over to the arm of his chair giving him a clear view of the fact she seemed to have forgotten to wear her underwear that day. Dongwoon’s eyes darkened as his lips turned into an evil grin at the idea of what was going to happen next, but his attention was pulled away when the Vice President of the company, Kang Daesung, walked in. The man stepped aside from the doorway and looked away waiting for the secretary to walk out of the room, ignoring the annoyed glare she sent him on her way out. Daesung just looked back at Dongwoon with an exasperated expression.
“What?” Dongwoon asked, clearly not seeing anything wrong in his actions. Daesung let out a deep breath before he began speaking.
“I just wanted to formally apologize to you. I’m going to be rudely late to your party tonight because of a conference call we had to schedule at the last minute with Mr. Lee.”
“What party hyung*?” Dongwoon inquired. Daesung’s eyes widened as he clenched his fists trying to contain his anger.
“You’re kidding me right?” He looked at the man seated at his desk and was baffled when the man made no attempt to tell him otherwise. “Today is your one-year wedding anniversary. Your father and in-laws are throwing a huge party. Please tell me this sounds at least somewhat familiar to you.” Dongwoon looked back at the Vice President with a blank expression.
“That’s today?” He asked as he looked at his calendar on the corner of his table.
“You forgot? Don’t you realize what a gre-“ Daesung stopped himself. No matter how much he wanted to chastise the young man in front of him, he was the C.E.O.’s son. With a sigh Daesung accepted defeat. “Just don’t be late to your own party.” Instead of waiting for a stupid remark from the young man, Daesung left the office shaking his head. Dongwoon slumped back into his chair as he closed his eyes tightly letting out a deep breath. It’s been a year already?? Why does it feel like a lifetime? He couldn’t stop his mind from going back to that fateful day when he found out he was entering a contract marriage.
[Flashback]
Dongwoon sat up and stretched as he looked out the large window that overlooked the city. Looking at the clock next to him, he leisurely got up from the bed ignoring the muffled groan coming from the girl next to him in bed and made his way to the bathroom. While in the shower, Dongwoon found himself thinking about the night before, images of “Jae” filling his mind as began to feel agitated by her, his hand coming up to his cheek rubbing the area she had slapped. Fully dressed he walked back out into the room and glanced at the naked woman who was looking back at him lustfully.
“You can have the room till noon, but make sure you leave before then.” Dongwoon said stoically at the flustered girl before turning around and walking away easily dodging a pillow that was aimlessly thrown in his direction. Walking through the lobby of the 5-star hotel, Dongwoon turned on his phone and cursed underneath his breath when he noticed he had six missed calls all from his father. Aish, what does the old man want now? Dongwoon walked up to the valet desk handing them his ticket as he waited for his car. As per request from the voicemail that his father left, Dongwoon drove home to see exactly what his father had to say to him this time around.
Dongwoon drove his silver Porsche 911 GT2 RS into the curving driveway and walked inside the large house disregarding the numerous maids and butlers that greeted him with a flick of his wrist as he made his way to the living room where he knew his father was waiting for him.
“I’m going to be straight with you,” Jungho began not waiting for his son to get completely settled into the couch. “You’re getting married next month.”
“What?” Dongwoon shouted as he stood up. “The hell I am old man!” Dongwoon was about to walk away but stopped when he heard his father yell back. His father was a very calm man, despite all the problems Dongwoon had caused he never once heard his father raise his voice at him. So when his father stood up from the couch and yelled back, Dongwoon was momentarily in shock.
“You will do as I say young man or you will lose everything. Trust me, I’ll be more than happy to completely write you out of my will.” Jungho threatened as he saw his son’s body stiffen slightly at the mention of his will. Dongwoon turned around and only smirked at his father thinking this was like every other empty threat his father threw at him. Jungho cocked his eyebrow knowing all to well his son was trying to test his limits.
“You think I’m bluffing don’t you? I figured you would. His bags.” Jungho looked over his shoulder and motioned to the butler behind him, and moments later he reappeared carrying two pieces of luggage containing Dongwoon’s clothes. “The charge you made this morning for the hotel room will be the last thing I pay for. Search him.” Jungho ordered, as three men walked up to Dongwoon frisking his entire body pulling out his phone, keys and wallet.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Dongwoon shouted back as he felt violated and something else; fear. Jungho took the wallet from one of the men and pulled out all the credit cards and cash and handed the virtually empty wallet back to him.
Jungho crossed his arms at his chest and stared at his son who was frantically trying to think of a way to handle the situation. “You don’t want to follow my rules then you don’t have the right to use my money or live under my roof. It’s really simple actually.”
“Oh, and don’t even think for a second that those friends of yours are going to help you in any way. I control all their companies. If they so much as even give you one penny I will pull out all my investments from their parent’s companies. Trust me they aren’t stupid enough to cross me.“ Jungho tried his hardest not to show his happiness when he saw the look on his son’s face as defeat slowly dawned on him. There was no way he’d survive on his own, he never worked a minute of his life, and his father used that to his advantage.
Sitting on the couch in defeat, Dongwoon let out a breath before asking, “what do I have to do?”
Jungho smiled at his son’s response, “good answer,” before walking away leaving Dongwoon stunned in the living room.
A few hours later, Jungho returned to the living room to find Dongwoon still seated in the same spot lost in his own thoughts.
“They are here sir.” One of their many butlers said announcing the arrival of their guests.
“Get up boy and you better behave.” Jungho warned his son as the two men walked toward the foyer. Standing in the main entrance was a rather burly man, a petite woman next to him and a young woman trailing closely behind, although hidden by her parents. Dongwoon didn’t care to look up while his father introduced him to the guests.
“..and Dongwoon this is your future wife. You remember her don’t you? Jaehwa.” Dongwoon’s head shot up at the mention of his childhood best friend. Yumi, her mother, stepped aside revealing none other than the girl he met at the club the night before. Jaehwa shyly had her head lowered, her hands fidgeting with the ends of her sleeves. She timidly raised her head, her eyes widening as she realized that her best friend also happened to be the perverted jerk from the night before.
