Farewell to Polls

Nov 04, 2008 11:49

I voted.

Now to sit and see whether I was as consistently wrong as I was four years ago. Still, much of me considers the results as something that will soon pass. Have the elections always been so charged? Or is this really a recent phenomena, as the young people always think?

I think they're getting more and more charged. It's hard to measure but I think voter turnout is one good metric--people go to the polls when they're all charged up, and stay home when they don't really care--and voter turnout blew records held since the 60's in 2004, and is set to set records again today.
