Well, the big news item of today has seemed to been the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Peace to President Obama. While someday possibly deserving the award, I don't think that his present achievements have such merit. I think the best suggestion voiced today would be for President Obama to decline the award at the December ceremonies.

I am a moderate. So I am pleased to see this "Gang of 20" doing its thing on the stimulus bill. I am all for passing a good stimulus bill soon, rather than a great one later. Wanted to say more, but work is pressing ever on.

I voted.

Now to sit and see whether I was as consistently wrong as I was four years ago. Still, much of me considers the results as something that will soon pass. Have the elections always been so charged? Or is this really a recent phenomena, as the young people always think?

Well, I can at least now be satisfied with one race. A couple months ago I was quite worried about who the nominee might be, but no longer. It is not yet settled, but close enough.

As for the Democrats, I may have to keep hoping.

Then come fall, could I possibly have to chose between the better of two good choices?

Yesterday, Frank Rich wrote about the US turning a corner from the legacy of our recent presidents. Something now closer to hope. I was quite discouraged some months ago with the candidates, but I agree that at least the caucus in Iowa has given me a better outlook on the race. Months ago I was growing depressed with the already developing Presidential Election. I have always been intrigued by many party democracy both in their ability to better capture positions, as well as their much shorter election cycle. I want out troops to be home, but I want them to come home 'victorious'.
I want meaningful objectives that everyone can agree are achieved or not.
I want broad support under those objectives, with sufficient resources.
But I can't agree that setting a deadline achieves any of these things.
