*Doot doot* ... Rock step

I went snowshoeing on Saturday up Hex Mountain, near Cle Elum lake. While crossing a windblown ridge, my foot listed placing additional strain on the support breaking the snowshoe. Pausing under a tree for a moment free of wind, we inspected the snowshoes and I decided for a time to hike without attempting to repair them. A couple hundred feet ( Read more... )

She's also turned up El Jay security so high as to prevent me actually notifying her that we say she rules.

This coming Friday is actually West Coast Swing workshop at the ballroom club. I might even try to show up on time for that :)

I was thinking I'd go to Mariners Fan Fest on Sunday, so no idea whether I'll feel like Century or not by then.

West Coast? Hmm, I may have to go to that. I do want to learn some new swing styles.

A word of warning about WC swing... it's an entirely different dance than East Coast (I've certainly never seen anyone at the Century do it); also the WC swing scene is frequented by the 40+ crowd (whereas, as you've seen in Seattle, the EC swing scene is dominated by young people).

Yeah, the problem is that I got bored to tears with East Coast swing, which is why I'm so happy to be ballroom dancing again instead of swing dancing (also as I'm turning 30 this year, I feel like I'm too old to go to the Century). But the funny part is that I barely know West Coast swing except for the basic, which means I can't really dance it at ballroom. (I dance it anyway, because I am Super Follow Girl. But that's the same way I dance Lindy; I don't technically know the step, I just follow whatever I'm led)

Century doesn't really play music suitable for WC swing either from what I remember the few times I went there. Anything slow's going to be Lindy-style. Anything fast is going to make me wish I had someone to quickstep with.
