I went snowshoeing on Saturday up
Hex Mountain, near Cle Elum lake. While crossing a windblown ridge, my foot listed placing additional strain on the support breaking the snowshoe. Pausing under a tree for a moment free of wind, we inspected the snowshoes and I decided for a time to hike without attempting to repair them. A couple hundred feet above our present position was another section of forest, so we made our way there and had lunch. I managed fairly well without the snowshoes coming back down, especially on the lower slopes where the snow depth was in inches. 5 hours on trail and my back is a little sore from the 25lb pack.
On Sunday evening,
jmcphers and I went to Century Ballroom for swing dancing. We arrived just a little too late to catch the tail end of the lesson (ideal for picking up new moves). This week I quickly turned introverted and wasn't asking many to dance. J saw many he knew, including MJ who "forced" us to dance with her friends. With her skirt flicks and cheerful demeanor, I liked dancing with MJ the best.
