Something I've noticed on the Metro ride of late is the conductor going out of his way to announce the train's number of cars. On my ride in to Rosslyn today, the driver said no fewer than five times per stop that it was an 8-car train ( Read more... )

That's interesting. I've never noticed my conductors doing that.

Most of the time they're trying to encourage folks to get on the larger trains, or wait for the next one if there is a huge crowd at the doors. "There is a train a minute behind this one, and it's an 8-car train..." I've heard that a bunch.

But no need to say it over and over. Sometimes the conductors are funny as hell. ;)

There are some really strange ones out there. Some co-workers who used the red line told me once tehre was a conductor who would say "OUt of the darkness and into the light" when the train would go above ground.

Which in turns instantly makes me think of Pantera. I assume that is not even close to the conductors intention...

ok you have to try this.. next time you ride the escalator down into the metro.. in your head or if you like whistle it aloud.. The Imperal March from Star Wars.. ... It adds affect or even play it on your ipod!!!!

I'm getting sick of all the repetitive announcements they've been making lately, most of it concerning things that any idiot can see for themselves without their help. Are they afraid of getting sued for letting someone miss his/her stop or something ( ... )
