Something I've noticed on the Metro ride of late is the conductor going out of his way to announce the train's number of cars. On my ride in to Rosslyn today, the driver said no fewer than five times per stop that it was an 8-car train.
If you're already on the train, why do you care how many cars it is? You can't get from one car to the other, after all. And it's not like the passengers at the stop can hear what the conductor is saying to those on board.
These are the things that keep me awake at night. :)
