I had a phone call this morning from a recruiter regarding a PHP position, and a meeting this afternoon with another recruiter (the one
thefrenchmaid put me in touch with). The meeting went well, and he thinks that he might be able to help given my experience and knowledge. *fingers crossed

If that ever happens to you again, when you go to re-download your file and you see the one you want in the Save As dialog, right click on the file you want (in the list), then open up Windows Explorer, go to a real folder, and paste it there. File dialogs in Vista (and I think XP as well) allow for basic file copy/pasting, renaming, etc...
I've run into this problem before. I hate the fact that Outlook is retarded enough to allow you to save in the temp folder (seriously, it's old enough now to have avoidance logic built in) and Vista for trying to be too smart and hiding folders on you. Vista thinks it's smarter than you and tries to protect you from yourself. Grr...

And yeah, the idea that Vista thinks it knows what I want is annoying, and I can't understand why I would be able to save in the temp folder either. There are other folders that Vista won't let me save stuff in - why can I save there? It makes no sense.
(Offhand I can't recall which folders Vista has defaulted to read-only, but I know I've seen that error message, and it's forced me to save in the My Documents folder. Dammit, when I say I want to save something in the root directory of my C drive, that's where I want to save it! I know what I'm doing... most of the time. ;) )

(Now I need a thread bomb that depicts Lucy from Peanuts yelling "Aha!" I know such a frame exists in at least one strip, but it doesn't turn up in the first ten pages of hits on Google. ;) )
