I'm not sure, to be honest. You're not the first to ask, either. I seem to recall a letter to the editor of the Globe asking this same question a couple of weeks ago.

It's an improvement over the previous two names of the team, anyway: they were the Toronto Arenas from 1917 to 1919, then the Toronto St. Pats from 1919 to 1926.

Hiho,

"Arenas" is a pretty bad name. But then again, the first team to ever win the cup was the Montreal AAAs. Good thing Montreal got new teams - "Go AAAs Go!" just doesn't have a good ring to it.

But when they would shoot and miss, or the opposing goalie made a fantastic save, the crowd would react, "AAAAAAAAHHH!" It sounded like they were cheering for their team. :)

It is very hard to read "Rogers went down" without thinking dirty. (Just for your information.)

And you're up there complaining about your cable going out when I'm down here complaining about my electricity going out! Ha!

LOL! Yes, I can see how that could lead to an interesting interpretation. :)

Urm... yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't thinking. I honestly don't know how you cope with that.
