e is for estranged
my art show at GRNY is ending a week early in the gallery, so there's only two days left to check it out in person. sorry for the short notice, i just found out! it's up online as well but is so much more exciting in person!
ANYWAY. not much else is going on over here, after all the excitement of the last couple weeks' art shows! i'm working on a book right now, calling for 36 illustrations for the interior so that keeps me pretty busy.
oh! i meant to write about my trip-a-month thing earlier!! here goes: when we went on our honeymoon in january, i realized that i hadn't taken a vacation in 3 years. i work insane hours. i work weekends. i work evenings. i work when i can't sleep. it's the hazard of loving your job, i guess, and also the hazard of being a perfectionist always trying to do better and trying to do more.
well, back to the subject: when we got back, i was depressed to say the least. so was michael. it just went by too quickly. 10 days, 4 spent on planes = 6 day break in paradise. so, we decided, every month we'd take a trip somewhere. anywhere, just to go somewhere. the rules were: 1) we had to stay overnight, 2) it had to at least partially feel like a vacation, even if it was for one day only
so far, we've gone to joshua tree, the ridiculous wigwam motel, los angeles (2x), portland oregon, chicago, camping at a state park here in CA, a llama trek (!!), rhode island, boston, martha's vineyard, and a few other little southern california trips...my pocket book is feeling it in the bad way, but my heart is feeling it in the good way.
