• He's a vampire not by birth, but through a potion he tested and enjoyed made by the Professor in Halloweentown. He'll stay a vampire until he takes the antidote.
• Potions don't really work well on curing someone who is technically 'undead', but Riku heals pretty well on his own though it takes a lot of energy if it's a large wound.
