'Tis the season! And if I don't get blown away by the hurricane, maybe I'll even fill in the details later...

ETA: Me too, in case it didn't go without saying--LJ has felt like a ghost town this year, and it's nice to be reminded that we're still here, at least to some extent.

So, where in the world did you meet Elizabeth Gaskell, and can you introduce me to her? ;) Now that you mention it, I do remember you talking about Orringer/Harty in the past. I had mixed feelings about The Invisible Bridge, but I like her writing.

I actually know the feeling you mean, though--a good friend of mine had her book requested this year, and when I spotted it while reading through the nominations, I was almost as surprised as if it has been something I wrote! :)
