Yesterday was election day here in Canada. I am very interested in how our government is run and who runs it, so I always vote, and I always stay up late to watch the election returns come in. Last night the returns started coming in at 10 p.m. I went to bed at 10:15. Not that I had completely given up hope, but it wasn't looking good. Then

Not being Canadian, I can't comment on your politics, other than to say that I am sorry that it didn't go the way you wanted it to.

Regarding your son's dating. Maybe it's good for him to date around as opposed to trying to date one person right now. That way he can avoid the whole rebound relationship. Nothing says he has to find a full-time replacement girlfriend. Just go out and have fun. That way, when the right girl does come along, he's not still holding a torch for the one who broke his heart. Just a thought.

I like your idea about dating; it makes a lot of sense, and I appreciate it. He's also been reconnecting with people he hasn't seen for awhile, and I think that's a good thing. Because of college and his ex-girlfriend, he hasn't lived in our home town for awhile, so he's enjoying getting to see people and catch up with them. I know he'll still have some bad times, but at least he's seeing that there is a life for him out there, one that he can enjoy.
