It's that time of year again and I'm picking my favourites. It seems like a good warm-up for Frozen Planet which I am going to prematurely recommend in spite of not having seen it myself yet. People who take no joy from nature are the saddest on earth.

how is frozen planet, btw? am bingeing on granada!holmes again at the moment due to obsessive need to see brett's face.

Very good and very beautiful, of course. Lots of long-lingering shots of gorgeous ice structures, and caves with bizarre ice formations, and Antarctic seas of purest blue-green filled with beautiful corals and jellyfish and isopods. Also there are wolves hunting bison and scheming orca and snowflakes filmed forming around specks of dust, which I'm totally a sucker for. And seven episodes of this!
