Back to school

My kids started school again yesterday. Both very happy and enthusiastic about it, thank goodness. And the ol' mama here has signed up for a two year program to get me through a learning process which eventually will lead to a certificate saying I'm a media-graphic expert. LOL ( Read more... )

Oh, that's nice. Do you get to meet sometimes? (and isn't it horribly expensive?? ...if sweden is anything like norway....);)

No it's a free course; we only pay for textbooks... and I think one meets once a week with the teacher for a handlednings session :)

The one I go to is free also, but like mentioned I have to write a contract with my current employer lasting close to two years..but that's cool really. Considering that graphic media jobs aren't a safe bet anymore...I know too many unemployed graphic artists by now...

Why is it free? Anything graphic tends to be high prized...

Oh Nomad .. its great that your work pays for your courses !! My son just did a 1 day course on Dreamweaver, and it cost $450 .. for 1 freakin day !! ( I paid for it eek ) He is trying to learn stuff at home, and has a bit of a night job .. just enough to keep him in cigarrettes :(

You must be pretty smart , and I like that pic of you a lot ... a strand of hair falling over your eyes just like Till :)) LOL

Actually, my employer doesn't pay a single krone for this. But they have signed an agreement about taking trainees, as we have a wide range competence in the graphic area. Even people who have been hired for years, like me, can become one. The costs is covered by the state, and that's where the 2 y contract comes into the picture. My employer only have to let me take days off to attend classes and exams, provide machinery and training, whatever is needed. And I get the same salary as usual. It's a good deal for both me and the employer.

$450 for 1 day of dreamweaver, yup, that sounds like the normal thing. What a nice mama you are, Schlaggy!

I might do an Open Uni course starting in October. Computery type stuff ... home-learning. It'll be free because I'm unemployed.

There are times when I (secretly) wish I could stay at home and do things that are fun only...but I'm grateful for a job. How great that you don't have to pay for the course. Makes it possible, I guess. You do some kind of craft also, right? I just can't remember what it was...

Hey, that sounds like fun! (Yes, I have a twisted perception of the word "fun".) Good luck! How did that German class go, anyway? Did it get boring after a while?

I'm not taking any classes or anything this year, I will be busy with my new business (eeep!), so I'm counting on being able to understand php with a tad of help from a book. Plus, I really need to get my head around Photoshop soon. Thank goD for online tutorials ;)

Hei Maija, back in "gamlelandet"? Are you taking Ada with you when you leave?

Oh, the fun *sigh*...I don't know, really. Interesting perhaps, but a very big part of me is very very bored with graphics. But I will go through with it, so that I can slap this piece of paper onto the desk, -in a worst case scenario. LOL I'm 99% determined to move up north, and I may have to take just ANY job up there, but this exam can save my ass if something interesting pops up.

My german class was fun, but a bit expensive...not really but then everything is too expensive for me now...even r+tickets. My kids are eating oatmeal-porridge because of my extravaganza. haha.

PS. pffft! Photoshop is sooooo easy. Piece of cake.....*ducks and runs*
